December 30,2015

Hello everyone, I pray this post finds you well. With christmas behind us my thoughts turn to the coming new year. There is something I love about the new year, maybe it's the clean slate that it brings, maybe it's the oppurtunity to set goals. I don't call them resolutions, because, to be quite honest, no one keeps New Years resolutions. A few summers ago Michelle and I joined a gym. While we toured the facility they told us that the gym gets really busy in January, but not to worry it only lasts a week or two. Hmm, that says something about our society today, our resolutions have no commitment behind them. That's why I prefer to set specific goals, the more specific the better I think. Some of my personal goals  are to read 10 books this year, and to spend 15 minutes or more a day praying for our church.

What goals have you set to improve your relationship with God? When I was a young man, each year at the youth evangelism conference our pastor would ask each one of us; are you closer or farther away from the Lord than you were one year ago today? If I were to ask you that very question today, what would be your response? Have a safe holiday, cu@church
